The Meaning and Recent History of Vocational Education

He was born in 1953 in Isparta. He completed his primary and secondary education in Isparta. He graduated from Istanbul Technical University in 1976 as a Mechanical Engineer. He received his master's degree from Ege University in 1980 and his PhD from Dokuz Eylül University in 1986. He worked as an expert in the Vocational School project of Council of Higher Education/World Bank in Ankara. He became Assistant Professor in 1986 and Associate Professor in 1991. He worked as a lecturer at Istanbul Technical University and Sakarya University. In 1999, he became a professor at Zonguldak Karaelmas University. Between 2000-2008, he worked as a faculty member and head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Zonguldak Karaelmas University. He was appointed as a member of the Higher Education Council in February 2008. He was elected as the Executive Member of the Higher Education Council in March 2008. He is currently working as a Member of the Higher Education Executive Board.
